On a 450 Mhz MacOS G4 with 140 sub-reports and no log entry going into 
more than one sub-report I get about 5,700 entries/second.

On the same machine with one sub-report I get about 18,000 entries/second.

On a 300 Mhz Celeron running Linux with 30 sub-reports and each log entry 
going into an average of 2.2 sub-reports I get about 6,600 entries/second.

Customers have reported speeds of over 80,000 entries/second for single 
sub-report configurations on very high end Linux and Windows systems.
