[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [Summary-Talk] errant search phrase
Summary's misdetecting a category cgi tag on a referring site as a search phrase, resulting in the client's 2nd most popular search phrase being 'cat'. This word could easily be misconstrued in the client's context, which would be embarrassing. However, the referring site is an extremely important one, so we can't filter it out. Designating it as a 'local' site doesn't work well, since it then doesn't appear in the reports in which it belongs, and deserves to stand proudly. Another 'non-phrase' that often shows up is a client's zip code, often as a search tag coming in from a mapping or phone listing search site. Sometimes this is a good one to keep, but often it's so large that it diminishes the visual graphed differences among the remaining phrases. Is it possible to filter out errant phrases like these, or even filter out all 'phrases' for a certain referring domain without filtering out the domains referrals as a whole? I thought that externalizing Summary's stopword dictionary for manual editing would work well. Providing a password-accessible check box next to each phrase for web-based dictionary management would kick butt. p.s., that second filter is coming in handy in so many places, my imagination's on fire. -- thanks 8^) Cameron Knowlton cameronk@igods.com ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
