If you said that correctly you have a setting wrong. You want "Use 
name/password limited sub-report lists" checked (turned on). That will 
show lists of sub-reports for which the name/password match. With both of 
those settings unchecked no one will be able to see sub-report lists 
(except with the configuration name/password).
