[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [Summary-Talk] Google search engine totals
Hello Jason, Though we mostly use Summary, we do still use an older version of a competitor's software for a few things, out of habit, and we are slowly phasing it out. From time to time, we've noticed some pretty wide variations in the numbers of reported search hits, and it looks like the other software sometimes over-reports figures in relation to Summary for some reason (I think it's counting some things twice, though I can't be sure). Anyhow, while trying to compare Summary's figures with that of the other software, one thing I noticed is that Summary doesn't seem to consistently pick up all the Google engines around the world for inclusion on certain reports and search-engine totals. In Summary 2.3.9 (Linux), our report 20 (/17/report/20?S=google&x=0&y=0) is showing google.co.in (Google India) at a high ranking, but report F1 (/17/report/F1) omits Google India altogether. I think there's more going on than just the number not being displayed in the report. It looks like Google India (and perhaps some of the other Googles?) are not getting included in the Google totals addition for the F7 no-countries report (which we really like). The no-countries total doesn't seem quite high enough. Thanks for taking a look into these, Kevin ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
