Hi We are at the moment setting up a new server and want to run Summary on the same machine, so Log files don¼t need to be stored in two places. (If that is any smart?). Anyhow I just got two questions: 1. If we run Summary on the same machine as our Webserver, can we start up Summary during boot time? With a startup script or alike. Like this I wont have to login to the machine. 2. We have many virtual hosts now, therefore we bought Summary SP. All are configured and have their own directories in the Log folder of Summary. The best is now to compress the log files and then put them into those Virtual hosts directories so Summary can read them. Is it ok for us to leave all the stuffed log files in there? Meaning I have a directories called "domain" in there we have log1.gz, log2.gz, etc for this domain. Does Summary only read the latest one? 3. Thinking of it, is it possible to run Summary on a separate machine and have it download only the *.gz files each time? Like ftp.domain.com/logs/domain/*.gz. 4. does anybody have some sort of a script (crontab) for automatically gzip the archived log files? I am still a little bit confused how to handle our huge log files the best way. Thank you for your help.
