There is a bug in OS X that can cause programs to become unstable if the 
machine is not rebooted regularly. In most cases the machine only needs 
to be rebooted once a week or so, but in some cases it may need to be 
rebooted much more frequently than that. If the problem was with Summary 
then rebooting or not rebooting wouldn't make any difference. This 
problem has also been reported with other programs.

Some people say that switching, replacing, or adding RAM DIMMs solved the 
problem but for most people that does not help. In some cases increasing 
the number of vnodes solves the problem but in many cases that does not 
help.
