What can I do about them? Getting that message occasionally is normal. When Summary is processing logs, or doing DNS lookups, there are occasional moments when the report database is locked and reports can not be displayed. In normal operation this should not happen for more than a minute or two every processing run, and usually is much shorter than that. If you are running out of RAM, forcing Summary's database to swap to virtual memory, this message can come up more frequently. You should check that the amount of memory Summary says that it is using on the Program Status report is always less than the amount of physical RAM you have installed in the machine you are running Summary on. In some situations where this message is coming up it can also help to set "Slow down DNS lookups by (0-full speed)" to five or six, or higher. But this particular situation seems to be very rare. This message can also come up and stay up, making the reports completely inacessable, when there is a serious problem with Summary (that is to say a crash caused by a bug). Sometimes you can clear this by exiting Summary and launching it again. But that doesn't sound like what you are describing. For example, 'One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish' can be deconstructed as a searing indictment of the narrow-minded binary counting system. -- Peter van der Linden, Expert C Programming, Deep C Secrets ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
