Your log file isn't really larger than 2 Gig at all, so there is no need to split it. I suspect that you are using the Macintosh (console window) version of Summary on OS X and trying to read a log file that is open by the web server. There is a known bug in OS X that prevents Carbon applications from consistently determining where the end of file is on files that are open for writing by other applications, so Summary just keeps on reading the log way past the end. The work around is to either switch to the OSX Command Line version of Summary, or to only process logs which have been rotated (are no longer in use by the web server). For example, 'One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish' can be deconstructed as a searing indictment of the narrow-minded binary counting system. -- Peter van der Linden, Expert C Programming, Deep C Secrets ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
