[Summary-Talk] incremental processing

Hi Jason and List,

I occasionally have issues with particular logfiles being successfully
delivered from all our servers into Summary's log directory. I notice
this problem because some referrers and page counts are consistent from
day to day, and I notice a similar percentage drop across multiple
entries.

With incremental log processing enabled, I manually sync these files
and tell Summary to Process for a second time. When it finishes
processing, I notice many the reports for that day are now inflated,
presumably because some of the information is counted twice.

If I uncheck incremental processing, re-enable it, then process all the
logfiles again from scratch, the inflated reports revert to expected
values.

I'm not sure if I'm getting inflated reports because I'm processing
twice on the same day, or if adding ANY files to that day will cause
data from that day to be counted multiple times.

If the latter, what happens when normal daily log rolling occurs at
23:58, so 2 minutes' worth of today's access logs are not reported
until tomorrow? Are all days being (slightly) inflated because of
this?

I have seen this behavior in most/all versions of 2.5.x, and I'm
currently using 2.5.3 as of yesterday (haven't had this come up since
yesterday, so I can't confirm that it's still happening yet).

Thanks,

Dale
