Excellent, no need to panic then :) Thanks Jason -----Original Message----- From: owner-summary-talk@lists.summary.net [mailto:owner-summary-talk@lists.summary.net] On Behalf Of Jason Linhart Sent: 07 March 2005 19:19 To: summary-talk@lists.summary.net Subject: Re: [Summary-Talk] Referrers One Report dac@Sell365.com wrote: > On the Referrers One report does it only show the latest full url for > a given domain? The following comments apply to all of the Referrer reports, including the Referrer Report, Referrers Over Time, New Referrers, Referrers One, and Referrers Two reports. For referrers, Summary tracks the portion of the referring URL up to the first question mark, ie Summary does not track the query strings. The portion of the referring URL after the first question mark is used for search word/phrase analysis, and for the Full Referrers report, but in neither case are all of the query strings fully tracked. For search word/phrase analysis the search phrase is extracted and the remainder of the query string is discarded. The Full Referrers report guesses at the twelve most commonly occurring query strings and tracks only them. Only the first portion of the referring URL, the portion before the first question mark, is displayed in the reports. Those URLs are also clickable links. The link used when clicking on one of those URLs often includes a query string. This query string is included so that there is a higher chance of the link actually leading to a place where your site is referred to. The particular query string used in a link is a rough approximation of the most commonly occurring query string for that referring URL. The selection is only approximate, so while you will often see the most common query string for that URL, you will sometimes see a randomly selected query string. Jason -- Jason@Summary.Net -- Dr. Seuss books . . . can be read and enjoyed on several levels. For example, 'One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish' can be deconstructed as a searing indictment of the narrow-minded binary counting system. -- Peter van der Linden, Expert C Programming, Deep C Secrets ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
