Something is rotating your logs weekly and only keeping two weeks. What
you describe sounds a great deal like logrotate on Linux, except that it
is not normally installed on OS X. There is something somewhat similar
on OS X called periodic, with config files stored in /etc/periodic. No
doubt it is setup to rotate your logs.
