Yes, that is probably a good idea.

Are you sure about that? I can think of some reasons why they might be
different, but many more reasons why they should be the same. With a
failure that only happens once every several days it is difficult to be
sure that it is not happening without running for several weeks.

Correct, the Macintosh GUI and Windows GUI versions don't write a
summary.log file. However, if they get an assertion error the entire
program will fail, not just one of the threads. If you were to have the
same problem you have been having in the GUI version you *would* notice
it, even though there isn't a log file.
