System Info: Mac OS X (Tiger) 10.4.2 17" G4 PowerBook, 1-GHz "Al" Summary 2.54 SP, Summary 2.62 SP Problem Summary: Clickable link for more information on a spiking referring domain in "Overview" page (static HTML report version) is for dynamic data from the Summary application, not to a static HTML page. Discussion: We process web site logs for a number of virtual domains on a monthly basis and produce a set of static HTML report pages for people using Summary. At least as early as Summary 2.54 and as late as the recent 2.62 release, Summary shows some extra information beneath the primary "Overview" (overview.html) graph for the time period at the top of the page and the start of the visit/hits info. This information includes visit spikes, e.g.: >* On 08/23/05 there was a spike in visits, about 59 extra visits or >58% above average. Unique hosts (+51/+66%) also spiked. Possibly >related to referring domain 'versiontracker.com' (+9/+112%) based on >visits. In such information, the referrer domain names are clickable, even in the static HTML report version. So, in the above example, the URL in the HREF for "versiontracker.com" is "/report/_Selected+Referrers.RI7.IP.IE.HN.$O.NL?M=2&N=versiontracker.com" Not surprisingly, this link doesn't work, because there's no such directory as /report/ in the static HTML directory for the virtual domain -- it's something that would work when generating the page directly on the fly from the Summary application and would be correctly handled by Summary's built-in web server engine. I should have reported this before, as I've known about it for ages, but I thought someone else would have noticed it by now. Sorry!
