First, if Summary is crashing we would like to hear about it. There aren't any known crashing bugs in the most recent version. If Summary is crashing for you we would like to hear all about it so we can fix the problem. Second, you can launch Summary as frequently as you want, if it is already running it will notice that and do nothing. There is a description in the manual on how to setup cron to do this for you, <http://summary.net/manual/faq.html#startup>. Thus there is no real reason to need to know if it is working or not, just launch it again and the correct thing will happen. Third, on Mac OS X if you install the newer versions of Summary to launch on startup, <http://summary.net/manual/howto.html#startup>, it will monitor it's self automatically for you, restarting if something goes wrong. For example, 'One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish' can be deconstructed as a searing indictment of the narrow-minded binary counting system. -- Peter van der Linden, Expert C Programming, Deep C Secrets ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
