[Summary-Talk] Visitor Estimating

Jason,

Based on the Summary Manual discussion of visitor
measuring issues, we devised two Estimates:

Visitors = Unique Hosts + ((Visits - (Known Robots +
Likely Robots)) - Unique Hosts) / 2

AND

Two Page Visitors = Visitors * (1.00 - (One Page Visits / Visits))

If we assume 100,000 Visits, here are typical results for our site:

  	Visits = 100K

	One Page Visits = 93K

		Known Robots = 45K

		Likely Robots = 7K

	Total Robots = 52K

	Unique Hosts = 31K

The 1st formula gives a Visitors estimate of 39K.

The 2nd yields a Two Page Visitors estimate of 2.8K.

In sum an occasional visitor finds our content interesting enough in
it's own right to explore further.

And since most visitors arrive "accidently" at our site, these results
are not unexpected.

Our Question

Do our Visitors and Two Page Visitors estimates seem reasonable in light
of the issues discussed in the Summary Manual?

By way of context, we have these relevant Configuration settings

1. Details: Cookie token for our session ID set to the value "USER",

2. Options: Use session IDs to determine visits checked
and

3. Miscellaneous: User log format definition with COOKIE
as the last item in a combined log format.

4. Filtering: For our content rich site, graphic requests
are ignored in our logs by the server.
